Privacy Policy

Iris is a photo editing app. Your photos are yours; our design goal is to process everything on your device.

What we process, and where

  • Photos. Photos you import are copied into Iris’s private app storage on your device and processed entirely on-device (editing, AI subject masking with Apple’s Vision framework on iOS or Google’s ML Kit on Android, thumbnails, exports). Photos are never uploaded to us. Deleting an edit session deletes its copies.
  • Edits, presets, preferences. Stored locally on your device.
  • Purchases. Subscriptions are processed by Apple (App Store) / Google (Google Play) and managed through RevenueCat, our subscription infrastructure provider. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app-user identifier and purchase receipts, never your photos or edits. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
  • Photo library access. Used only to let you pick photos and to save your exports. Location metadata (EXIF GPS) is preserved in your exported files only if present in the original photo; it stays inside your files.
  • Look packs. Iris downloads look packs from our content delivery network (packs.iris-app.pics). The request carries no account, no identifier and nothing about your photos; like any web server, the CDN logs the IP address the request came from.

Crash and diagnostic reports

Iris uses Sentry (sentry.io) to learn when the app breaks. Alongside purchases, this is the only thing Iris sends off your device.

  • What Sentry receives. Crash reports and stack traces; your device model, OS version and the Iris version; a short tag naming the operation that failed (for example export-save); and performance timings from roughly one session in five. If you use Settings › Send feedback, Sentry also receives the message you wrote, and a reply email only if you chose to type one.
  • What Sentry never receives. Your photos, edits, masks or exports; the contents of your photo library; your name; or your email address unless you type it into the feedback form.
  • When it runs. Released builds only, never in development.

See Sentry’s privacy policy: https://sentry.io/privacy/

What we do NOT do

  • No accounts. No ads. No advertising or marketing SDKs. No selling of data.
  • No tracking: nothing Iris collects is used to follow you across other apps or websites.
  • No cloud processing of your images.
